Surah At-Tahrim
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَآ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكَ ۖ تَبْتَغِى مَرْضَاتَ أَزْوَٰجِكَ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Yā ayyuhan-nabiyyu lima tuḥarrimu mā aḥallallāhu lak(a), tabtagī marḍāta azwājik(a), wallāhu gafūrur raḥīm(un).
O Prophet, why do you prohibit [yourself from] what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

721) The Prophet swore an oath not to be intimate with his wife, namely Mariah al-Qibtiyah. By this oath, something permissible (halal) became forbidden (not allowed) for him. Therefore, this verse does not mean that the Prophet altered the law of halal into haram.
