Surah Al-Fajr
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ
Wa ṡamūdal-lażīna jābuṣ-ṣakhra bil-wād(i).
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

755) This valley is located in the northern part of the Arabian Peninsula, between the cities of Medina and Sham (Greater Syria). They carved the mountain rocks to build residential buildings, and some also hollowed out the mountains for dwellings and shelters.
