Surah Al-Hajj
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ وَلَا نَبِىٍّ إِلَّآ إِذَا تَمَنَّىٰٓ أَلْقَى ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فِىٓ أُمْنِيَّتِهِۦ فَيَنسَخُ ٱللَّهُ مَا يُلْقِى ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ثُمَّ يُحْكِمُ ٱللَّهُ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
Wa mā arsalnā min qablika mir rasūliw wa lā nabiyyin illā iżā tamannā alqasy-syaiṭānu fī umniyyatih(ī), fa yansakhullāhu mā yulqisy-syaiṭānu ṡumma yuḥkimullāhu āyātih(ī), wallāhu ‘alīmun ḥakīm(un).
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.

505) Some commentators interpret tamanna as ‘to recite’ and umniyyatihi as ‘his recitation.’ This means that whenever the Prophet pbuh recited a verse that contained a warning to the disbelievers, they would immediately interrupt the Prophet’s recitation by inserting additional words that affirmed their own beliefs.
