Surah Al-Ahzab
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا
Innallāha wa malā'ikatahū yuṣallūna ‘alan-nabiyy(i), yā ayyuhal-lażīna āmanū ṣallū ‘alaihi wa sallimū taslīmā(n).
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.

620) Blessings (salawat) from Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) mean the granting of mercy; from the angels, they mean praying for forgiveness; and from the believers, they mean praying for mercy to be bestowed, such as by saying Allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā Muhammad. 621) By uttering words such as Assalāmu ‘alaika ayyuhan-nabi, which means 'peace be upon you, O Prophet'.
