Surah Al-Mujadilah
قَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّتِى تُجَـٰدِلُكَ فِى زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَآ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌ
Qad sami‘allāhu qaulal-latī tujādiluka fī zaujihā wa tasytakī ilallāh(i), wallāhu yasma‘u taḥāwurakumā, innallāha samī‘um baṣīr(un).
Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you, [O Muhammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah. And Allah hears your dialogue; indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing.

711) This verse was revealed regarding Khawlah binti Tha'labah, whose husband, Aws bin as-Samit, subjected her to zihar by saying, "You are to me like the back of my mother," meaning he would no longer intimate with his wife just as he would not intimate with his mother. In Jahiliyyah (Pre-Islamic) custom, such a declaration of zihar was equivalent to divorcing one's wife. Khawlah complained about this matter to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). The Messenger of Allah replied that Allah had not yet revealed any legal ruling concerning zihar. In another narration, he said, "You have been forbidden from being intimate with him." Khawlah then said, "My husband did not utter the word divorce (talaq)." She repeatedly urged the Messenger of Allah to make a decision. Consequently, this verse and the subsequent verses were revealed.
