Surah Ta-Ha
فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ
Fa akalā minhā fa badat lahumā sau'ātuhumā wa ṭafiqā yakhṣifāni ‘alaihimā miw waraqil-jannah(ti), wa ‘aṣā ādamu rabbahū fa gawā.
And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.

485) What is meant by disobeying (the command of) his Lord here is violating the prohibition of Allah the Almighty out of forgetfulness or unintentionally, as mentioned in verse 115 of this Surah. Meanwhile, what is meant by lapse (khilaf) is following what Satan whispered. Although not considered major by the standards of ordinary humans, Prophet Adam's mistake was already termed as disobedience due to his high and noble status, and also to serve as an exemplar for leaders and figures to steer clear of prohibited acts, no matter how small they may be.
