Surah At-Tawbah
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مَسْجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَكُفْرًا وَتَفْرِيقًۢا بَيْنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِرْصَادًا لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
Wal-lażīnattakhażū masjidan ḍirāraw wa kufraw wa tafrīqam bainal-mu'minīna wa irṣādal liman ḥāraballāha wa rasūlahū min qabl(u), wa layaḥlifunna in aradnā illal-ḥusnā, wallāhu yasyhadu innahum lakāżibūn(a).
And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "We intended only the best." And Allah testifies that indeed they are liars.

333) What is meant by the person who had previously waged war against Allah SWT and His Messenger is a Christian monk named Abu 'Amir. They were eagerly awaiting his arrival from Syria (Sham) to lead prayers in the mosque they had built, and to bring a Roman army to fight against the Muslims. However, Abu 'Amir never arrived because he died in Syria. The mosque built by the hypocrites was subsequently demolished by order of the Messenger of Allah SAW, based on the revelation he received after returning from the Expedition of Tabuk.
