Surah At-Tawbah
فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ ۚ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Fa iżansalakhal-asyhurul-ḥurumu faqtulul-musyrikīna ḥaiṡu wajattumūhum wa khużūhum waḥṣurūhum waq‘udū lahum kulla marṣad(in), fa in tābū wa aqāmuṣ-ṣalāta wa ātawuz-zakāta fa khallū sabīlahum, innallāha gafūrur raḥīm(un).
And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

320) What is meant by the sacred months here is the four-month grace period granted to the polytheists at that time, starting from the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (the day this verse was revealed) until the 10th of Rabi' ath-Thani.
