Surah Ali 'Imran
وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ ۚ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ
Waltakum minkum ummatuy yad‘ūna ilal-khairi wa ya'murūna bil-ma‘rūfi wa yanhauna ‘anil-munkar(i), wa ulā'ika humul-mufliḥūn(a).
And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful.

111) Ma'ruf encompasses all good deeds commanded by religion that benefit the well-being of both the individual and society. Munkar refers to every evil forbidden by religion that corrupts and destroys the life of the individual and society.
