Surah Ar-Rum
فَإِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ
Fa innaka lā tusmi‘ul-mautā wa lā tusmi‘uṣ-ṣummad-du‘ā'a iżā wallau mudbirīn(a).
So indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs, retreating.
📝 Footnotes
594) Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) likens the disbelievers to the dead, who can no longer hear the call to truth. They are also like the deaf, who cannot hear the call at all when they turn their backs on the person calling them.
