Surah Al-Anfal
إِذْ يُوحِى رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ أَنِّى مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ سَأُلْقِى فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلرُّعْبَ فَٱضْرِبُوا۟ فَوْقَ ٱلْأَعْنَاقِ وَٱضْرِبُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ
Iż yūḥī rabbuka ilal-malā'ikati annī ma‘akum fa ṡabbitul-lażīna āmanū, sa'ulqī fī qulūbil-lażīna kafarur-ru‘ba faḍribū fauqal-a‘nāqi waḍribū minhum kulla banān(in).
[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip."

307) This occurs during warfare. The lethal target is the neck. However, if the opponent wears armor making them difficult to defeat, their hands or limbs are disabled so that they can no longer hold weapons, making them easier to capture.
