Surah An-Nisa
وَٱلَّـٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةً مِّنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا
Wal-lātī ya'tīnal-fāḥisyata min nisā'ikum fastasyhidū ‘alaihinna arba‘atam minkum, fa in syahidū fa amsikūhunna fil-buyūti ḥattā yatawaffāhunnal-mautu au yaj‘alallāhu lahunna sabīlā(n).
Those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse of your women - bring against them four [witnesses] from among you. And if they testify, confine the guilty women to houses until death takes them or Allah ordains for them [another] way.

148) The word "indecency" (fahishah) in this verse means the act of adultery or fornication (zina). However, according to another opinion, this word also encompasses other lewd acts, such as same-sex relations and the like. 149) What is meant by "another way" is the revelation of Surah an-Nūr (24:2) concerning the law of flogging.
