Surah Al-Ma'idah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلصَّيْدَ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۚ وَمَن قَتَلَهُۥ مِنكُم مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ ٱلنَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِۦ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ هَدْيًۢا بَـٰلِغَ ٱلْكَعْبَةِ أَوْ كَفَّـٰرَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَـٰكِينَ أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَٰلِكَ صِيَامًا لِّيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِۦ ۗ عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ ۚ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنتَقِمُ ٱللَّهُ مِنْهُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو ٱنتِقَامٍ
Yā ayyuhal-lażīna āmanū lā taqtuluṣ-ṣaida wa antum ḥurum(un), wa man qatalahū minkum muta‘ammidan fa jazā'um miṡlu mā qatala minan-na‘ami yaḥkumu bihī żawā ‘adlim minkum hadyam bāligal-ka‘bati au kaffāratun ṭa‘āmu masākīna au ‘adlu żālika ṣiyāmal liyażūqa wabāla amrih(ī), ‘afallāhu ‘ammā salaf(a), wa man ‘āda fa yantaqimullāhu minh(u), wallāhu ‘azīzun żuntiqām(in).
O you who have believed, do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. And whoever of you kills it intentionally - the penalty is an equivalent from sacrificial animals to what he killed, as judged by two just men among you as an offering [to Allah] delivered to the Ka'bah, or an expiation: the feeding of needy people or the equivalent of that in fasting, that he may taste the consequence of his deed. Allah has pardoned what is past; but whoever returns [to violation], then Allah will take retribution from him. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution.

223) The game animals referred to in this verse include both edible and inedible animals, with the exception of crows, kites (hawks), scorpions, mice, and rabid (vicious) dogs, as well as snakes according to one narration. 224) The phrase "reaching the Ka‘bah" in this verse means the sacrificial animal brought to the sacred precinct (Haram) to be slaughtered there, with its meat distributed to the poor and needy. 225) Paying the expiation (kaffarah) must be equivalent to the value of the livestock that replaces the killed game animal. 226) The number of fasting days must equal the number of mudds of food distributed to the poor, which is calculated based on the value of the killed game animal, provided that each poor person receives one mudd (approximately 6.5 ounces). 227) The phrase "what has passed" in this verse refers to the killing of game animals prior to the revelation of the verse that prohibited it.
