Surah Al-An'am
Wa huwal-lażī ansya'akum min nafsiw wāḥidatin fa mustaqarruw wa mustauda‘(un), qad faṣṣalnal-āyāti liqaumiy yafqahūn(a).
And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand.
📝 Footnotes
254) According to some commentators (mufassir), what is meant by "the lodging place" (mustaqarr) is the father's loins and "the repository" (mustawda‘) is the mother's womb. Others are of the opinion that "the lodging place" is the surface of the earth while humans are still alive and "the repository" is the depths of the earth (the grave) after humans have died.
