Surah Al-Baqarah
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِـَٔادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ
Wa iż qulnā lil-malā'ikatisjudū li ādama fasajadū illā iblīs(a), abā wastakbara wa kāna minal-kāfirīn(a).
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers.

14) Iblis, just like the angels, also received a command from Allah to prostrate to Adam. Iblis is from the race of the jinn.
