Surah Al-Baqarah
لَآ إِكْرَاهَ فِى ٱلدِّينِ ۖ قَد تَّبَيَّنَ ٱلرُّشْدُ مِنَ ٱلْغَىِّ ۚ فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱلطَّـٰغُوتِ وَيُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدِ ٱسْتَمْسَكَ بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ لَا ٱنفِصَامَ لَهَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Lā ikrāha fid-dīn(i), qat tabayyanar-rusydu minal-gayy(i), famay yakfur biṭ-ṭāgūti wa yu'mim billāhi fa qadistamsaka bil-‘urwatil-wuṡqā, lanfiṣāma lahā, wallāhu samī‘un ‘alīm(un).
There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

79) The word taghut is used for anyone or anything that exceeds the limits in evil. Therefore, Satan, the Dajjal, sorcerers, those who legislate laws contrary to the law of Allah SWT, and tyrannical rulers are all called taghut.
