Surah Al-Baqarah
Inna fī khalqis-samāwāti wal-arḍi wakhtilāfil-laili wan-nahāri wal-fulkil-latī tajrī fil-baḥri bimā yanfa‘un-nāsa wa mā anzalallāhu minas-samā'i mim mā'in fa aḥyā bihil-arḍa ba‘da mautihā wa baṡṡa fīhā min kulli dābbah(tin), wa taṣrīfir-riyāḥi was-saḥābil-musakhkhari bainas-samā'i wal-arḍi la'āyātil liqaumiy ya‘qilūn(a).
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.
📝 Footnotes
47) The alternation of night and day caused by the Earth's rotation drives global air movement in the form of wind. With the wind, ships can move using sails. Wind is also what drives water vapor from the oceans to form clouds, then pushes them over the land to pour down as rain. Through that rain, plants grow that sustain various types of animals.
